What makes a good business name

Most business name generators hand you a list of adjective-plus-noun combinations ("Swift Solutions", "Prime Services") that thousands of other businesses already use. They are hard to find on Google, impossible to trademark and taken as .com since the nineties. This generator works differently: it reads your actual description, mixes real words, blends and invented words, and then checks the registries so you only shortlist names you can own. Local businesses have an advantage here: the name only needs to be distinct in your market, so a fresh two-word compound or a short coinage is usually still free.

Write one honest sentence about what you do, for whom and where. "Mobile car detailing at office car parks" produces names that fit the business; "a services company" produces nothing useful.

Tips that save a rename

  • Search Google Maps and your national companies register for the name before anything else; local duplicates cause invoice and review mix-ups.
  • Skip "Solutions", "Services", "Group" and "Enterprises"; they add length and remove meaning.
  • Say it on the phone: "Hi, this is ___". If you have to spell it, choose another.
  • Buy the .com if it is free at normal price; for a local business the matching Google Business Profile matters as much.
Should my business name describe what I do?

A hint is fine, a full description is not. "Mobile Car Detailing Ltd" is unmemorable and un-trademarkable; a distinctive name plus a clear tagline works better in search and on a van.

Do I need a domain for a local business?

Yes: a simple site with hours, services and a booking link ranks for your name and feeds your Google Business Profile. Customers who hear about you look you up before they call.

How do I check if a business name is taken?

Three places: your national companies register (legal name), the trademark office (brand), and here (domain). Search Google Maps as well if you serve a local area.

03 — FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our domain name generator.

Is NamePulsar free?

Yes. Generating names, scoring them and checking availability is free and needs no account. When you register a domain, you do it directly with the registrar.

How accurate is the availability check?

We query DNS and the official RDAP registry data in real time. “Available” means the registry has no record of the domain. “Likely available” means the domain has no DNS records but that registry doesn't offer RDAP to confirm. Premium or reserved names can still cost more at the registrar, so always confirm at checkout.

What is the Pulse score?

A 1–10 brandability estimate based on length, pronounceability, syllable count and spelling pitfalls (digits, awkward consonant clusters, double letters). It helps you compare names; it says nothing about trademarks, so run a trademark search before you commit.

Which domain extensions are supported?

.com, .io, .ai, .co, .app, .dev, .net, .org, .xyz, .me, .eu, .de and .ro. Choose the ones you care about before you generate, or hit “all extensions” on any card.

Do you store my project description or shortlist?

No. Your description is sent to the AI model to generate names and isn't saved by NamePulsar. Your shortlist lives only in your browser; share links simply carry the names in the URL.

What makes a good brandable domain name?

Short (ideally under 10 characters), easy to spell after hearing it once, easy to pronounce, distinctive enough to trademark, and available as a .com or a strong alternative like .io or .ai.
