Made-up word name generator
Invented words that sound like real brands (think Kodak, Zillow, Hulu), with pronunciation hints and live domain availability.
What makes an invented name work
Invented words are the most reliable way to get a free .com and a clean trademark: nobody else has the word, so nobody has registered it. The craft is in making the invention feel natural. Good coinages reuse familiar sound patterns (consonant-vowel-consonant-vowel), avoid letters that are read differently across languages, and carry a faint echo of a real word so the name is not completely empty. This page sets the generator to invented words only and shows a pronunciation hint on every card, so you can reject the ones that need a tutorial.
Tell it the languages your customers speak and the feeling you want. "Easy in English and Spanish, friendly" steers the sound patterns; a product description is optional.
Tips that save a rename
- Prefer letters that sound the same across your markets; avoid j, w and double vowels if you sell in several languages.
- Check the invented word in Google and Urban Dictionary: some coinages turn out to mean something unfortunate.
- Two syllables ending in a vowel ("-o", "-a", "-i") are easiest to say and trademark.
- The pronunciation hint on each card is how a stranger would say it; if that differs from what you intend, change the spelling.
Are made-up names harder to remember?
Slightly at first, but they have no competition in search or memory. With a clear tagline they become ownable faster than descriptive names.
How do I know an invented word is free?
We check the domains live. For trademarks, use the TMview link on each card; invented words usually clear easily.
Can an invented name mean something bad in another language?
Yes. Search the word in the languages of your markets and ask a native speaker before you commit.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our domain name generator.
Is NamePulsar free?
Yes. Generating names, scoring them and checking availability is free and needs no account. When you register a domain, you do it directly with the registrar.
How accurate is the availability check?
We query DNS and the official RDAP registry data in real time. “Available” means the registry has no record of the domain. “Likely available” means the domain has no DNS records but that registry doesn't offer RDAP to confirm. Premium or reserved names can still cost more at the registrar, so always confirm at checkout.
What is the Pulse score?
A 1–10 brandability estimate based on length, pronounceability, syllable count and spelling pitfalls (digits, awkward consonant clusters, double letters). It helps you compare names; it says nothing about trademarks, so run a trademark search before you commit.
Which domain extensions are supported?
.com, .io, .ai, .co, .app, .dev, .net, .org, .xyz, .me, .eu, .de and .ro. Choose the ones you care about before you generate, or hit “all extensions” on any card.
Do you store my project description or shortlist?
No. Your description is sent to the AI model to generate names and isn't saved by NamePulsar. Your shortlist lives only in your browser; share links simply carry the names in the URL.
What makes a good brandable domain name?
Short (ideally under 10 characters), easy to spell after hearing it once, easy to pronounce, distinctive enough to trademark, and available as a .com or a strong alternative like .io or .ai.
